Curious Kelp Bass - 2025

Swimming in the protected marine reserve in La Jolla, CA, I get to see so many spectacular fish and marine life. When I stop to admire tope sharks or bright orange Garibaldi, the kelp bass swim up as if to say “Hey, what are you looking at? Look at me!” Some have even continued to swim with me for a few seconds. They may not be the most spectacular looking fish, but their curiosity and willingness to approach swimmers makes me smile every time I see them.
